Rootes Minx Commer Hillman Hunter Humber Scepter Sunbeam Alpine Short Engine HC
I am not a mechanic and never will be but I do like to read about different aspects of mechanics. I am hoping that some one will explain the difference between a short engine and a long engine because as far as I am concerned if they weren't the same length they wouldn't fit into the same engine compartment.[?][?]

Short engine is the block and components contained within, it comes without the cylinder head, push rods or sump pan.

Aha so it's nothing to do with the length of it but it means it's short of some of the pieces, Thanks for the information[^]

I always found it the term better represented the length of the invoice when you had a motor rebuilt!
