Just took my Commer for the MoT at a different place than usual, after my regular turned renegade on me claiming health and safety slapping a height restriction with his lowish overhead roof truss.:(
Spent two weeks preparing to be greeted with a clean cut young tester in a smart two piece black snap-on suit.[8D]
This guy had never seen a Commer before let alone tested one but it was okay because he had tested two VW campers before:I
On the ramps and he could not see the rear lights, from the drivers seat, with the wall mounted mirrors, with the sunlight, so called in his assistant.
To my relief, an older gentleman (older than Panky I would say), came in grinning "I've had three of those, my Dad loved them!
Plain sailing thereafter......and a pass:)

Mine is getting done right now. I took it to a different place in a grim part of town in the hope they'll be less anal. I was greeted by a chap outside the front of a tin shed with a pit in it he only had about 4 teeth and was in his early 60's (either that or he'd lead a hard life) he started to wax lyrical about his love of commers and how he worked on hundreds of them during the 70s... I'm not sure if this will bode well or not my main concern is the modified suspension components....
 
How did you get on? Did the toothless tester take pity on you;)

No he didn't, it failed on minor things like lamps not working and a loose bolt on the anti roll bar. He also said the brake light is coming on with the tail light, but i checked it with him on the way out and he said it wasn't doing it now so i could forget the first 4....
 
A handed tyre?
He must have forgotten that the brake lights come on with the hand brake, that one always gets the testers:)
