Yes the van sailed through today!, yayyy!!..:D.The tester mentioned that the handbrake on one side worked better than the other but both were working very well anyway, and that the rear leaf springs were maybe sagging as im riding on the bumpstops.Otherwise no problemo!!..
Thanks to all who have helped me with parts to help get it back on the road!!,cheers guys!![8D].

Will post pics when i find my digi cam, i moved home last week and have yet to find where i buried the cam!..:I..i have issues with overheating at the moment, oil levels are fine and so is coolant circulation.I think ive got the carb mix right as well..any ideas anyone?.A shame cos she drives lovely.Being an auto box vehicle i fear she may have been driven hard to get places quicker in the past and this might have affected the engine.At the end of the day i brought it not knowing how the engine was..
I shall spend the weekend with my 'sherlock holmes' hat on and see if i can figure a reason out for getting so hot..:)
 
Hi Paul, If I remember, you had the head off, so that possibly eliminates that. try running without the thermostat (stuck stat), are all the ducting shields on underneath? some on mine are missing!
 
Does it overheat at stand still or is it just as you are driving? if it is just on the move it just might be because you re-positioned the heater behind the grille and it is interrupting the air flow to the rad. Are you getting any bubbles showing in the radiator? if so could be head gasket and system is being over pressurised.

Absolutley fantastic to hear that my old van has been resurrected. I have followed your restoration with great interest. Well done the work you have put in and the time is very admirable.

Haha!, hi Shane, i thought you might be keeping an eye on her!, thanks for the comment!..:).Ive seen the work you have done on the Fiat by the way..;), came across some pics on a forum you belong to!.

To think of it, i havent replaced the metal work that sits under the rad that deflects cool air 'upwards' to the rad..that will go back on this weekend..yes tried running without a thermostat, no difference at all.
Gonna recheck the valve clearances this weekend and set the carb up again just for good measure.
I have had to set the timing without a strobe gun as i cannot get my hands on one, not even in a shop!..so its been done by ear if you know what i mean..

I wont be beaten though!..;):D
 
That's because they are not supposed to do 70+ [:0] It's not big and it's not clever;)
 
To true [^] they will eventually learn to set off earlier or take an alternative route. Who knows you may become a regular on AA Roadwatch ;)
