just a bit too late with the wire brush advice had already sheared one stud trying to tighten up to stop it blowing ! its a bloody learning curve lol

its ok wobble over retest tomorrow and ime feeling confident , all brakes working handbrake mackled slightly but does work exhaust exhausted so fingers crossed tomorrow could be the day

Good luck guys. Remenber the advice given elsewhere - give the brakes a good workout on the way to the MOT place, it seems to work wonders:)

well he passed he is back on the road all legal and everything , im still not happy with the exhaust but it will do for now the work on the interior starts now , at least im confident with wood and amanda is busy making curtains , the rear cushions have been sent to be recovered i have used him for work today and he has been fairly reliable carb needs setting up tho

yes thanks for them woolfie you have been a big help and saved me some money too. you should start 50pence a min advice line , thanks to everyone else for tips help and advice and the samaritans when things wernt going so well lol, going to start work on the inside now will try to get some pics on too

the manifold panky , i put the front wheels up un ramps dropped the front pipe and pushed it to the side drilled the old studs out with a 10mm bit then tapped a 12mm thread into the whole and used 12mm threaded bar for new studs, it went well but i had put the tap into a socket and use an extension and ratchet to get below the sump and have room to turn the threads in , and then i had to open out the wholes on the exhaust flange a bit to get it over the new bigger studs , i didnt use the new sealing ring the old one was slightly bigger and seemed to do better job when tightened up . ime not sure i would recommend this approach but it worked for an old joiner and took about an hour
