It seemed that the rest of the country basked in summer sunshine while we were away but despite the persistant drizzle that fell for most of the weekend we had a great time. Harvey and Gladys arived on Friday afernoon and it was actually quite dry, but not for long. A few more of the clan joined us later that evening.
Afer an evening of burgers and beer we had a leasurely start to Saturday and readied ourselves for the roadrun, kick off at half eleven.
Gentlemen - start your engines
A rather lovely H120 parked up next to Harvey
It started raining again as we climbed up through the clouds
We soon passed the first casualty at the side of the road - an Austin Seven with the bonnet up and the driver pouring Highland Spring water into the rad[V]
As the mist cleared we were treated to some spectacular scenery
But more was to come:I
We lined up at a hold point at the bottom and steeled ourselves for the big climb. Once we were away we hit a tight left hander and floored it, up to second and climbing easily - then an Imp two cars in front stopped[V]. He managed to get going again but the Austin Cambridge behind him was also struggling and held us up with Gladys right up behind him giving some encouragement to get a move on. Looking back we could see the next batch of victims lining up.
We survived the climb and while Rosie disapeared from view for a while she soon re-appeared when we hit the (comparatively) flat stuff as the Austin was still dribbling along at a snails pace.
We all took a break at a Loch-side cafe half way through the run.
If Carlseberg made carparks[8D]
A great day and showed everyone what our vans could do, some of the others weren't so luck - aparently the Imp that was having trouble blew its engine and a big Jag suffered a similar fate[V]
After another great evening that was topped off perfectly with out excursion inthe 'tector van we made ready for the show.
Sunday was wet again and we heard later that it was touch and go if the show went ahead as the field was so soggy, but swamp mats were laid at the main entrance and the only vehicle we saw getting dragged off at the end was the burger van and trailer.
Some highlights of the day.
Harvey's new accessory created plenty of interest and I can see a few more of theses appearing soon, Martin suggested to Barb, who made it, that it should soon have its own part number in his catalogue
A fine line up, and we got our own catagory in the judging[^]
Some more goodies
Brilliant brilliant show and we will be back next year[8D]
Summer's here.....
Told you
