Model Commers

As you know from my intro post in the "I need a new window" thread I am new here.
A little further information and wondering if I am the only geeky one.
In addition to the real one I also have a collection (so far 12 + 2 sets) of diecast model Commers.
I just wondered if anyone else also collects model ones, looking at some of the other posts it appears some of you make collections of the real ones, wish I had the space.

cheers, keep dry

Wow!
That's a collection, I have shown the pic to my beloved so she now knows the target :)
The only one I didn't see is the Ecurie Ecosse Racing transporter, how long did it take to get all that lot or are some childhood souvenirs.

Martin the Ecurie Ecosse transporter was in real life a one off transporter made for a scottish racing team in the early sixties on a Commer coach chassis with the twin stroke diesel TS3 engine. It has been restored and makes occasional appearances at classic events I saw it a few years ago at the Goodwood revival meeting.

Corgi made a model of it both singly and I think as a set with 2 or 3 contemporary racing cars. I will try to put a couple of pictures up probably on my daughter's website until I get time to sort out a pictures ID for myself.
cheers

Wouldn't you just know Martin would have one ;) I bet it took you ages to match the paint and find a box to copy [}:)]

Aha! I've spotted the difference, your box is printed upside down :)

'Harvey the RV'

No, wrong [B)] I bought it off e-bay for 22 quid, good copy though;) There was no way I was going to pay £500-2000 for a real one, I could get another brace of real ones for that :p

My humble and battered fleet travel with Bessie mounted on cupboard door & black vinyl from my first 71 commer. Green TV van (minus cameraman) was birthday present from my brother - turns out I was ebay bidding against him on it - oops:I

:D bidding against your brother, thats almost as good as buying your own van :D

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off no.3"

Yup, those windows would be great - would have to avoid commer tradition and not leak though.

I want the police flashy light and the glass tube dipping headlights on my real van too:D

thanks kes .. it started out as the same van as yours with the windows in the top .. i filled them in shortened the roof rack then made a camper roof out of filler and cut the sky light out of a granada indicator .. then painted it to match frankinvan .. got to modify every think :D

will blame it on the pics as took on phone with no flash [}:)] ok i forgot the computer .. need to get a maid ? oh yeah need money to pay them and that would dip in to fuel allowance [}:)] now wheres that duster

I have the Corgi set, which I have had from new, but unfortunately I lost the little bench which fits in the pick up. If anyone ever comes across one, I would be grateful. When I was a teenager I donated nearly all my toy cars to the big toybox in my Mum's classroom (she was a reception teacher), but kept back my favourites. These included my Commers and my James Bond DB5 which still includes the villain with the gun in the ejector seat. When I think back, there were some real classics I gave away :(

Martin: Is that a Ford Thames Calthorpe in your collection [?]
