Mk1 Escort Mexico

I've been having fun watching this on Ebay. There was some fierce bidding at the end.

Should be on the road in a couple of weeks with an oil change and some new plugs!

Summer's well and truly done

Most unusual,if indeed it was the original shell. Theres a lot of ringers about perporting to be "original". My father in law used to build proper mexico's at the A.V.O. plant at Aveley in Essex including the actual cars that took part in the original rally.
He could tell at a glance if it was as built.

back to my "rootes"

Thats just abzurd! Nobody in thier right mind would pay that for 'it'. I guess they just want the paperwork and vin to stick on another car. I cant think of anything else you could do. Complete restoration = complete replacement! I could just about understand it if it was the last one on earth or a 1910 rolls or something. There is one of these in a field not to far from me and its at least complete. Perhaps i should aquire it and retire!!

Well...alright then, maybe just a little...
