Mechanic in West London

Hi Panky, thank you for those details. I was looking at the Accuspark fuel pump on their website - http://www.accuspark.co.uk/fuel_pumps.html
The current fuel pump fit on Piggy is a Facet; which is a Universal Electronic Fuel Pump. It is still in operational order but the decision is to replace it as part of the elimination process. Would you know what the maximum PSI level for the fuel pump needs to be for the Commer.

No problem happy to help.
The Accuspark item delivers up to 6 psi which is only suitable really for high performance, multi carb applications. the higher pressure could force fuel past the float valve in the carb causing it to flood. The original mechanical pump delivered between around 2.75 and 4.25 psi so go for one with a similar output. I seem to remember Baz fitting the Facet that's on there so it wont have done much work, try testing it into a container and see what the flow is like before chucking it out.

Thank you Panky. You and I are on the same page. I have asked Gum at DS Preston to do just that.
Am trying to get a hold of Tim (Commeracer) but he does not seem to be around. Would you have a number or alternative email for him please.
Thank you.

@bazzateer - thank you for suggestion on new dizzy, however upon a review of the Accuspark site I see there are a large number of electronic distributors to choose from. Is there a specific one that you can suggest which would be correct for Piggy. Thank you again.

Hi ssmehra, have you found a pitch yet for your foodie van, I'm in London quite often and visit a fair few street food markets as I'm in that business myself.. Would be nice to swing by a sample you offerings..

I did mean carb and not cash!

Regarding the distributor I would just give them a call and they'll probably be able to tell you which one will fit.

Pretty sure one meant for a Morris Minor (45D) will fit but as Baz says give them a call

I called them and they did not even know what a Commer is!!! Helpful eh!!
If the 45D is appropriate then I will speak with them again and look to make the purchase.

@jagger - Thank you for getting in touch. We don't have a pitch yet but this is purely because we were waiting on Piggy to get finished. However having stated that we've given ourselves a deadline of mid-June to get Piggy going. If he's still a WIP then we'll get going with the gazebo at the first possible fair that we get into to start with.
We are currently being set up as Indian Street Kitchen. We are really looking to be the alternative Indian food vendor instead of the standard fair being served by the many...though everyone knows nothing beats a fantastic curry.
We serve modern fusion Indian street foods, inspired from the love of Indian and World street cuisine. We serve fresh, home-made, healthy and uniquely blended fusion of traditional Indian foods with locally sourced, free range certified British ingredients, to create delicious new modern Indian versions of world street foods. All our products are served in recycled packaging.
All our marketing avenues are being developed - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the website...BUT it all depends on the design of the wrapping for Piggy.
As you are in the trade as well please do give us any suggestions you might have. Being new or a veteran...its always refreshing to hear from those in the know with details of how to be a better.

I've compared a Commer one and a Morris Minor one on the bench and they look identical, but I haven't tried one in practice.
If you ring them again mention that it's the same engine as a Hillman Hunter and many other Rootes cars.

Thanks @Panky and @bazzateer = I called them and after much discussion purely because I am still playing with car mechanics terminology like a bumbling novice...we settled on the Hillman 45D. However need to get an answer on whether this is a top or side cap.

It should be a top entry, most modern equivalents are, but it will come with a cap so no worries:)

Check the battery cables. If the positive + cable runs to the chassis the van is positive + earth. If the negative - cable runs to the chassis the van is a negative - earth.:):):):)
