It is with a heavy heart that I have made the decision to sell Matilda
The last couple of years have been full of change, a long period of illness followed by a change of career and the birth of our daughter has meant that I have not had the chance to do many of the things that I wanted to the van. I have realised that it would be better for her to go to someone who is in a better position to restore her and get her back on the road. Although there is a fair amount of welding to be done to the cab the substructure is in very good condition and she is complete (including the copper water tank in the closet). I have sourced a few more parts since purchasing her and these will be included with the sale.
I detailed the majority of the work I managed to get done in the following link and there are loads of photos and history included in this thread (hence no pictures on the advert).

Matilda is a very rare van from what I can gather and I have lots of photos and details about her life over the last 54 years! So the provenance that comes with her is pretty good. I have a full box folder of information, previous owners and paperwork. I also have original advertising material, an original Car magazine from its launch and road test and an original Rootes workshop manual / folder all of which have cost me money to purchase.
She is fitted with:
Later 1725cc engine - turns over freely but not fired up probably due to clogged carb.
Overdrive gearbox which from what I know is a sought after alteration
Everything else is original as she left the factory.
I'm looking to sell her for what she owes me. I've carried out work to her in the meantime and cleaned up the mess that was the carpetted cab to uncover a pretty rust free interior. Where possible I have treated the rust so it has not become any worse that the photos in the thread.
She will make a really good project that will certainly stand out once completed and I'm gutted that I wont be the one to do it but I would rather sell now so she has a chance to be saved than to see her degrade over time while I cant give her the attention she needs.
I bought her for £1550.00 2 years ago I don't want to move much from this as I have carried out some work to her, at the same time I don't want to add anything as don't want to be greedy and want to be fair to genuine buyers. If more than one person wants it then it will come down to first come first served or highest offer. Ideally I wouldnt want to see her become a mobile coffee shop etc but being saved is better than not so I would consider it as an alternative.
I can be reached on 07958830274 - if I dont pick up bare with me as I am often working away from reception but will get back to you asap. Alternatively post on here or drop me a PM.
