All geared up for a test drive today 
Started off with a 2000rpm tickover [}
]
Traced to the stupid overun valves in the carb butterflies
Not man enough to handle the blower sucking on them, so they were bronze welded shut [^]
First test run revealed no major issues except a missing 3rd gear, but it's quite happy going from 2nd to 5th
45MPH = 1500 RPM
60MPH =2300 RPM

Some tinkering found 3rd [^]
Second test was just as good
seems to handle really well, and the brakes......................
.....................work well

Bit of a big flat spot and spitting back at 3500, so some needle changes needed, and a slightly blowing exhaust manifold on one side that needs sorting, then it's MOT time
