Today I have been mostly......... Taking the head off due to a blown head gasket!!! :( our time on the road was short lived. But I'm on the case!

Going to have the head skimmed and converted to unleaded so I can get her back on the road and hope fully the rest of the motor will see us out till winter, then back to the drawing board with regards to maybe finding a replacement lump???

Oh crap[V] Are you sure it's gone, I simply can't see any evidence of it;)

If you're getting the head skimmed then it's a good idea to take a big chunk off to get some compression. 75 thou is what i took off Syhbils head. More torque and economy :p

"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

I wasn't sure if it was gone or not John but thought I'd take the head off for closer inspection [:0] ;) , thanks for the advise Tim I may be giving you a call tomorrow regarding manifolds and the like :)

Well got to say I'm quite pleased with myself, got the new gaskets on over the weekend and..... Touch wood all seems good :) we all went for a ride in the afternoon sun this evening over to friends (roughly 18mile round trip) she seems to be running hot if the gauge is to be trusted but didn't overheat, and ended up with a slight blow on the manifold/down pipe joint which should be cured with a nip up. So for my first go ever at a head gasket change its been successful...ish :D
