Just Like Buses these Commers

Hi guys got a question about my Van, main beam is not working, high beam is ok, Question is if the bulbs have gone do you have to replace the complete unit ? it looks sealed. :)
 
You've tried the floor switch I presume?

Yea Bazz, that operates the High beam right ? Thats ok but when i click light switch once on dash it brings side lights on pushing down one more click and no main beam, hit floor switch and high beam comes on.
 
i had this with Smurf...

take the switch out of the dash then gently prise the back off,(careful not to drop any bits) tou can then clean the contact points inside (don't worry its easy and not complicated to put back together)

Should take you about 10 mins :D


 
spray it with a little wd40 too.

if that doesn't work check the socket that plugs into the sealed beam unit with a volt meter.....You can pick up new sealed beams for under a tenner on ebay. Don't go for new 'old stock' ones, they won't last 5 mins

If you keep the van you could also consider a halogen upgrade...about £30 for the pair:)


 
check connections at the floor foot button too,wouldn't want the lights going out while your driving both Ran & Sybhil did that [:0]

Cool, Trying to find the funds elswhere for the engine and gearbox rather than sell this little one, and may have storage set up for the other one so as not to pee off the Wife :D

Lights working, thanks for help peeps :D. Lets just say with the other i have landed a goodun, 2 weeks and it's on my drive, well he comes back from hols late Sunday night so sometime that week, Bodywise, very very little, didn't have camera and can't take pics as its all locked away.
My m8 is going to take the engine as soon as i get it and bore it out to around 1900ish, uprated cam and renew the lot, Sadly this one i think is gonna have to go to fund the engine and gearbox, trust me don't want to as i love it but the other is the BOMB :D
He was trying to take this one and store it in his workshop but hasn't really got the space. :(
But i'm in the Gang now so yippee.
 
Anyway back off outside to play with the Van, I love these things, makes me smile everytime I drive it, spent about £40 in petrol already and have not left the town, keep getting stopped by people wanting to talk about all the time, will be back on later, gonna have a cuppa in the Van :D

Sorry Scott, Don't no my arse from my Elbow since i got the Vans, and havn't slept properly, when i have all i've done is dream about them LOL.Well, In my job i travel around alot, different Hospitals working within Blood transfusion and Pathology, I have a Laptop with work and my background on the Laptop was.......... Yep you guessed it a picture of a Commer. :D
One particular Lab manager came passed and said " Is that a Commer ? " I replied Yep.
Oh my Dad has one of those in his Garage, had it for a long time and was thinking of scrapping it as it was so old.
Bullet out of a Gun I was ;), Got round and well, a very well kept example, off to the bank and came back and gave him a deposit.
Job done.
1970 PB i think, :)
