It's been a long journey but slowly and surely i am getting there. I've spent a lot of money as i am sure we all have that own any classic, but i have been putting the old girl to work to pay her way :) I am a photographer and own a photo booth company and thought it was a good idea to convert the inside so that it is spacious for a photo booth. The van is still going to get re done inside as eventually i would like to get her to work double shifts as a wedding vehicle as well. I am going to design a detachable kitchen unit so that i can put it back into the van when i take her away. I absolutely love the Commer and even though i would of loved to of kept it original i have to break away from this so that it can earn me money so that i can afford to own it.

So the next plan is to sort the pop up roof out as it has a very limited life left in it and then the redesign of the inside. So I am getting there.

I hope people don't find that i have butchered the van but instead can see it was my only way of owning such a beautiful Commer.
 
Love it! Got a friend who has done photo booths for years and he converted a black cab for the similar selling factor :)
 
Not butchery at all but evolution, there's nothing been done that you cant reverse in the future if you want to. Looks fantastic and a credit to you:cool::)
 
Cheers everyone for your comments, I am glad the van is met with approvement. I love Commers so getting her looking so nice brings a lot of pleasure and rightly so Panky it is true that one day if i feel i want to revert back to the original inside then it's all possible. I will keep this blog updated as i go along!
 
Funny thing is, Mrs Renaultvation and I were at a wedding fair in Exeter last weekend where we saw a VW based photo booth and we both thought what a great idea for a Commer. Lo and behold, you have already done it. The results look fantastic and I am pleased to see Jog looking so good.
If you do still have the original interior fittings, I would urge you to keep hold of them as they are of a much higher quality than those used in later versions.
 
Hey Renaultvation, cheers for your message, sorry only just realised you posted it! The booth has been busy this summer which is good as i have more costs for the restoration. I have discovered very bad rust on the inside behind the gutter. It should of been discovered earlier before the respray! So it now needs to be cut away and re-welded. The roof also is not in good condition so i need to replace this also.

I would love to keep the roof original so does anyone know how this can be done? Or i am thinking of getting a different roof on there for the benefit of it being a better weather seal and also less weight. Any thoughts anyone??
 
Typical Wanderer rot:( But a few people have successfully made new side panels. Hopefully the metalwork it attaches to will be OK.
