That time has come, and sadly for me I have to hand over JOG to a new caring owner. [V] The company I work for is moving from Berkshire to right in the middle of London so there is no chance I can keep him with me. [V] I thought about making him a permanent live-in vehicle, but then I remembered about winter and how tough it can be in a Commer…
Sooo, shortly I´ll post a few recently baked photos. Many of you know this van, so there is no need of too much introduction. The van is original and has never had any welding done. It is mechanically sound and very solid (extensively undersealed). Although the bodywork is in very good nick, there are a few areas that will need attention in the future. There is an evident rust area in the panel just behind the front bumper, but given that it is far from any structural points and hidden behind the bumper, it has never caused any MOT or cosmetic issue. The other area that would be top in my to-do list is the lower wooden sections that support the roof panels. They are widely rotten, although this does not prevent normal usage of the roof.
I bought him in January 2013, and since then the main things that have been done are:
• Replacement of both gear bushes
• New speedo cable
• New speakers installed, matching stereo player (Sony Xplod series).
• Recently bought a 1000W Silverline inverter (not installed yet)
• All fabric items washed and old carpet ripped out
During late 2012, the previous owner had done:
“Brakes rebuilt, replaced the distributor and coil with new electronic items, sorted out a fuel leak, replaced the door mirrors with some correct period mirrors and replaced the curtains in the cabin with some period curtains.”
The van comes with extensive documentation, including invoices, receipts, original manual, workshop manual, old V5, insurance certificates,…. Clearly a beloved chap since its birth! Also included is a Just Kamper cover, a leisure battery (looks like it has seen better days but not been able to use it since I haven’t installed the inverter yet), a windscreen thermal cover (almost new!) and multiple new and old spares to boost the comfort of the passionate camper
MOT until 31/3/2014 - It is on sale for £4,500.
If you are interested, feel free to email me ([email protected]) for more photos or questions. The van is in Windsor and available for viewing by appointment. I guess it will end up on ebay unless someone here can ensure the love and care he deserves.
Thanks,
a sad Isaak [V]
