I remember a time years ago - the afternoon after the night before and without any sleep (those early 90's clubbing days ) - lying down at Derwent Dam with friends when without warning one of these with a Spitfire either side suddenly roared not far above our head from over the Dam wall - thought we'd gone back in time and proper crapped ourselves!

Until a couple of years ago, my parents lived within sight of Coningsby and having grown up living by the Thames Estuary during the war, my Mum would say instinctively every time the Lancaster or a Spitfire went over 'it's ok, it's one of ours'!
