Interior

On designing a new interior whats the best way to start? Go the way you want or stick to a traditional style. Any thought please stuck on this 1!!!!!!!

Hi Rodders.

I'm new to owning a Commer but one of the things that made me prefer them over the VW's was the extra width that allows you to sleep across the van, which leaves the rest of the back of the van free. I know they're not all like that, but it just appeals to me, and being a short arse, i can sleep that way easily.

I suppose it comes down to personal preference and what works best for you.

We are making our own interior, to be honest the standard interior was not practical and suitable for what we want to do. We are changing the bed so it goes down the middle of the van, with thinner cupboards on either side, and it folds up into a rear facing sofa seat.

Or thats the plan anyway....

FRODO LUVS YA!

Sound great being down the van, iam 6"4 so i surpose it will be a bit cramped across it. Do you get much cuboard space that way?[8D]

The Autosleeper interior I am selling, had a bed which could be extended into the front, by folding the front seats down, so you could sleep lenghways :)

Chasbaps van wasn't originally an auto sleeper ;)I find my bed ok for me but not for both of us especially with george squashing us [V]
I would like to extend my bed so It can be slept in the length of van, feet on an extention of some sort & still have access to the cupboards if some one is still asleep?I have fixed bulkhead,so would like to put a dog guard above that so when I am in bed the dogs will be confined to the cab [8D]when I am driving they can be secure in the back.

Have you thought about scaling down the Highwayman layout with extra seating down the side which pulls out to make a lengthways double. You would have to sacrifice some cupboard space, but you could tailor the length of the bed to suit you. You could also arrange it so that you can sit down while cooking or washing up, you just won't have anywhere to store the food or the pots and pans! :)
