Insurance - Advice Required!!

Hi

Myself and Mrs Hubbell always leave things to the last minute! Any way we're off to Gloucester tomorrow to part with our hard earned dough and we hope to bring that lovely commer back to London with us - hurrah! Im so excited!

Anyway we need to insure it so we can legally drive it tomorrow without risk of arrest and crushing a rare vehicle! So who is the best online company to go with?

Also are these details correct -

date of manufacture - 1973 -
the vehicle itself its official title - Rootes Commer PB?

Much talked about topic, here's some of it:)

I did in the link, but I'm a bit peeved with them at the moment. They may be good with classic insurance but crap at responding to a claim for a classic as a daily driver[V]

I might be wrong but I dint think RH are open until monday and the don't do online policies? If thats the case we'll probably go with Footman James - has anyone used these guys?

I'm drunk now. So I cant be bothered to sort out insurance. That can be one on tomorrow's jobs. Thanks guys.

Peter James - much betterer than FJ.

I went with RH. They were half the price of everybody else. Most of the "specialist" companies wouldnt insure it because it was American or an import!!!!!! or put me through to their American vehicle department! Just because it`s a Dodge

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

I checked and my policy allows me to drive third party with the owners consent and as it technically belonged to Gary I just took it on an extended test drive back to London. Problem solved. Now it's parked off road whilst we sort out a cheap policy during office opening hours!

Hubbell, 'some' of the above mentioned insurers will not give you a limited milage 'classic' insurance policy unless the vehicle is kept in a locked garage...they will not insure you if you tell them it's kept on a driveway ......up to you how you want or not to be generous with the truth ;)
Also, some will give extra discount if you say you belong to a club, which of course this is, there is a way to find your 'membership' number but I don't recall how, I'm sure someone will tell you;) ....Ahem!, Panky? :D

The only way I can think of is if you go to your profile page (by clicking on your name in a post) and then 'click to send an email' There is an address at the top of the window - the number at the end of the address is your 'membership' number:)
I'm 152:)

Ahh, I get it now..... my number is 707 and Hubbell, your number is 1740

Just click on anyones name, then look at the top of the page where the toolbar saying what website you are on, it will say ''forum.commervanfan.co.uk'' in black then there is more writing in grey and your number is at the end.... [8D]
