Jon the barn is mostly the foil insulation we gave up with the loft stuff after seeing you struggle & itch.
Doesn't the rattling of the blinds annoy you though?
Not sure yet as we've not driven it
!There is some strategic bluetack in place though for when the time comes
I have blinds that sit between driver and main area - they do frustrate at times... but useful at night. Was very intrigued by the "backdrops" in the recent thread of a Commer Photo Booth conversion... asked - waiting for a reply...

A question:
Ours is a bus so the floor is just the ripply metal. How do camper (or other) vans stop any wood etc layed on top eventually sink into the ripples? Is it just thick plywood ? Or isn't it the problem I thought it might be ?
I'm planning on some sound deadening around the gearbox area, with some thermal insulation then a layer of ply, then lino (maybe carpet). So I guess I'm wondering how thick the ply should be, and indeed whether this is a goodly plan.

just basic cheap outdoor ply in the back... Think I used 12mm and is more than fine. The one thing I did do was spray clear waxoil first on the bed and let it dry off before laying the ply down but not necessary. Front, wouldn't use ply at all, won't give any additional sound proofing really as most noise comes through gaps and holes. Some under engine sound deadening and a well fitted carpet are best, just make sure you check under for dampness now and again as they can get water under. I also used engine deadening inside the engine cowl (removed first) and the engine lid well glued with heat resistant contact adhesive. I've also covered the outside of the cowl with campervan interior 4 way stretch felt. It's very quiet inside now bar the wind noise
the 4 way stretch is the black stuff... Comes in all colours, eBay has loads if you search camper interior stretch lining or something. The matting...I've lost the link... Will take look further...

this is the felt stuff. I prefer it on the floor under carpet as it tends to stay in place and you don't need to stick it down, as mentioned you want to be able to lift it really in case water gets under. They also seem to do a foil backed one too which may be better under the engine lid.

Hi Jimmy, we are not far - in Leicestershire. The van will be available for viewing between the 5th and 19th Nov and then it's being stored for winter

I have noticed that we get puddles in the front, under the carpets where it has been sitting. I've assumed it came through the top grill. There is carpet down and some sponge which is soaking it up, will keep an eye on it but I didn't put any soundproofing down (stuck) in case it trapped water.

gives a really professional looking jobI'm Sheffield way welcome to pop and take a look too. Built my entire interior as the van was empty and have used loads of the stretch in it.
Hi Andrew, there's a definite improvement to the noise when the tanks are filling up with air from inside the van. Not driven it as yet as it's still awaiting its registration.
