It's good that the seller is offering it for sale before consigning it to the banger track. Might suit someone who has just had to sell their Commer, but has room for something smaller!
Always a contensious issue banger racing and classics!
The sad fact is that not everyone wants or can afford to restore a classic car, camper or van and restoration costs usually far outweigh the final value of the vehicle! so what happens to them? They either sit in someones garden or garage until such time as they go to the scrap yard or they get raced. I personally hate banger racing its just not my thing but why should anybody who wants to do it be chastised? I know a couple of banger racers who have raced some quite rare cars over the years but they also have pristine examples that will never go near the track. One of the guys used to regularly race the Farina range of Oxford`s and Cambridge`s years ago and kept all the trim and mechanical parts in a container, when he offered them to the owners clubs, for free I might add, they all turned there noses up so the whole lot got dumped when it could have kept many cars going or provided hard to find trim, and how hard are good interior parts to find for any classic! I know there are some scum around who steal cars to race, they are in every walk of life unfortunately, but the vast majority of racers are ordinary people persuing there hobby and racing cars that no one wants or can afford to restore and a good few of them are classic car enthusiasts as well. Some people dont like to see any classic vehicle messed around with and believe they should be original and as they left the factory
I like it and would leave it as it is
Most classic bangers are the one,s beyond sensible repair, i don,t think anyone is stupid enough to race a good one
