Ignition timing

Whoop whoop I've just bought myself a colourtune so that when I get Lulu I will be able to get her petrol mix spot on, who's a clever boy then.

I've done the deal and I'm collecting it on Saturday. Am I correct in thinking that with the alloy head you can only use it with a matching camshaft and inlet and exhaust manifolds?
 
Correct, if it's out of an Arrow series car you will need to swap over the front plate (for the engine mounts) the sump, thermostat housing and water pump as well.

Cool, not bad for a ton! I'm looking after my little boy this weekend as the Mrs is off playing netball in Bournemouth all weekend so driving to Rugby will give me something to do whilst simultaneously containing the little man....

I'm taking my 14 month son (Ovadia) with me tomorrow to collect the Rootes-Arrow engine from Rugby. I'm planning on separating the top end (cylinder head / manifolds) when I get there. I'm not sure of my son's current lifting ability, but if he struggles will I be able to lift the bottom end into the van on my own?
 
You'll struggle to put it mildly:I Take a good pair of rigger gloves(I always find they are worth a few extra pounds of lift), wear something with sleeves - and a strong box to lift it on to half way so you can get another grip on it, just mind your back. Is there no way you can get assistance from the seller?

That is a very good idea, I managed to get one out of the back of a van and into a wheel barrow but it needed two of us to get it in there in the first place:I

I used the hoist in the end. I'm glad I did as it is a bit of a lump. Plus it was raining and the engine was sitting outside. All in all a success though I'm going to
start stripping it down later today.
