Commer Dandy by Dandy Caravans
The Colonel Mustard
I think the reason it has`nt sold is the fact it has not been registered and has been vandalised.
I cant believe it has only done 700 miles from new but if it has never been registered how has it travelled 700 miles?
However it is a very nice van and could be put on the road very easily, if the mileage turned out to be correct it be almost unique, any Calthorpe conversion is rare but a non rusty Thames is even rarer!
Personally I think the asking price is too steep given what needs doing but the seller wont budge.....I have tried!
Amazing van, but as you say, the amount needed to finish off, makes it difficult to make a profit.
I thought about the Maidstone, but the same applies. By the time it's restored, it would be well over what it would sell for.
Calthorpe did a Commer conversion, there is a very early one in a garage, not far from me
Calthorpe were the pioneers of the rising roof beating Dormobile.
Calthorpe offered there conversion on Bedford CA, Standard Atlas, Ford Thames, Commer PA, I dont recall a Land Rover Calthorpe though.
They also sold the roof under licence to other companys mostly in the USA.quote: Originally posted by renaultvation
Did Calthorpe ever do a conversion on the Commer? I only recall seeing them on the CA Bedford and Ford Thames. [?]
