Tyres were flat looked perished but they pumped up and look fine now - just got to rebuild the carb and I'll be down the MOT station!
Welcome to the madhouse! Brilliant van, it has come up like new. I cant believe after sitting there for so long it was so quick to start. The interior is fab, any idea what conversion it is? Love the dual rear view mirrors in the cab!

Its actually just a factory built mini bus I think 12 seats are totally mint as they have had covers on them, cant believe it has so little rust they had sprayed underneath with motor oil so that seems to have preserved it. Cant wait to get her on the road I've promised to go and pick up the family of the last owners who went to italy in the van as children in the 60's!!
I'm missing some chrome hub caps are these easy to get hold of?
PS. that clean took a whole tub of Auto Glym and my index finger may never be the same again!

I have found two and am cleaning them up so two more original ones would be great as I dont want them to look too new... Do you think theres chrome under the black paint on the bumpers?
Shame I wont wear another finger out trying to clean them then!
How do you rebuild a carb have you done it? Its a 1500 engine original what kit do I need?
If you go to the home page on this site and go to 'Mechanical' there is a download for the Zenith carb, workshop manual and a few other bits you may find useful. I'm not sure if Martin Maltas does o/haul kits but failing that Speedy Spares of Brighton should sort you out.

Congratulations on your astute purchase, you have bagged a gem there. 
Although the tyres may appear ok, I would advise changing them as the rubber will have deteriorated over the years. I am sure others can advise on the best tyres to use.

Thanks I wanted to get some that are simular to the original ones as I love the style of them will take some picture to show - Is there a commer meet up? I own a pub in Essex (currently closed for refurbishment) with a acre camping field so would be quite happy to host a commer van meet up - be great to do something this year....
Ok cool I have started I post in the Meeting forum for Essex 2013 no charge for camping etc, bring your own beer / food may even be able to sort out some live music....
