The DVLA database says the last time it was taxed was 1986[V]. It could still be lurking in a barn somewhere :I

It appears that the van was last taxed in 1986, so unless it has been stored since, it doesn't look too promising [V] ....... unless anyone else knows otherwise ;)

just in from work i have a little puzzle for those in the know has any one seen the film about the spy george blake who excaped prison and got to the south coast in a commer van?

No but you've just reminded me that I was approached by a film company looking for a Commer to make the film a couple of years ago - or was I contacted by the man who owned the original van that George Blake escaped in (more brain cells gone):I

i just asked because when i bought my van the previous owner gave me a load of paper work and in it i found the letter from channel 4 asking him to be on set with the van with lots of other cars of the same age we have asked channel but we have had no reply still trying to find out where to get the film from
 
It will belong to the production company, doesn't it say on the letter who they were?

I could see if we sent Hillmans along at the same time - do you know when it was released or shown on TV?

the letter just says breakout, principal films ,then the times for filming thats it no release date the letter is dated september 1999

Great pictures, great to see them when they were used years ago, makes you realise how important it is to keep these great vans going :)
