I need a pair of doors!

The restoration is finally underway for the old le mans commer but no amount of patches will hold these doors together! Anyone know where I can lay my grubby paws on a nice pair...... (of doors!)

Both drivers side and passengers side front doors are rotted out top to bottom, window winders and locks also shot! Mine is a 1969 commer so it has the 'flutes' or it did have!

Good doors are very rare. I will have some needing repair to the bottoms. I can supply the repair panels to do them, or repair them 1st.

What would they cost me as an exchange item, ie, you can have my doors with a view to repairing them in exchange for a repaired pair?

Plus a few pennys I suspect!?

Treating the commer to a coat of hammerite all over this week as its all I can afford to protect her from the rot! One day I'll save up enough for a proper respray.

I would hesitate before using Hammerite on your van. It may protect against surface rust (for short while), but it will not protect against rot, it will just hide it from view. It's great for garden tools and trailer chassis, but looks awful on a vehicle. It is also very difficult to remove once applied. I once saw an Austin 1100 in green Hammerite. It looked terrible and was as rotten as a pear. [xx(]

If you wish to protect your van, treat it to some aquasteel to neutralise any rusty patches, then apply some primer on that area, followed by a bit of gloss. It doesn't even have to be the same colour, you can always paint over it later. You can't do that with hammerite. [V]

This is just my opinion and others may differ! ;)

Sounds a good price to me considering how much work goes into getting them straight;)
