time for the poor ugly duckling to get some proper treatment
its absolutely rock solid ,beautiful under the grime but runs like a bag of nails
so rather than mess about with the old lump its time for a 1725 maybe holbay with overdrive
heres a couple of piccies from today

the brown camper had an outing today to Cars in the Park in lichfield our local show.

now the winters here its time to strip the hadrian
although solid we were concerned about water ingress into the interior,all the problems seemed to be in the rear offside so out with the window




the roof has been flashbanded






took the inside out to reveal







solid wood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! couldnt believe it the only rot being in the left hand corner






and a little bit above the window left hand side









so only replaced about 3foot RESULT!!!!!!!!!
the woods now been cuprinoled and mastic put between the wood and aluminium skin.weve also angle bracketed every corner for rigidity






the leak seems to be pinholes in the fibreglass roof so weve refibreglassed from the underneath
so far though pleasently suprised
 
A very pleasant surprise, usually all sorts of horrors are revealed:) Must be made from decent timber.
 
That's brilliant Steve. Could have been all sorts of nasties behind there. A real result:)

What's that in the background through the window in picture 3?
 
its a 1954 bentley rtype,had it for 27 years
first owner was billy cotton the band leader
think once weve replaced all the window rubbers and had a good look under the flash banding we will have a waterproof van
now weve gone this far it makes sense to run all modern electrics etc behind the new wood panelling for sockets lighting and fpr the rear lights etc
theres also two seats as you get in the van.going to replace these with something more suitable.
