Just wondered how much others on here know about their van's past.
We thought we knew anything there was to know about Buttercup. My wife's father bought Buttercup (she was called Snowdrop then) when she was about 18 months old in 1976. We bought her from him in 1988 and have had her since.
However, when Jules stripped all the paint off (see reader's rides) we discovered that she had had a fairly major crash requiring a new side to be fitted before my father-in law bought her. You could clearly see where the new side had been welded in.
Just wonder what stories some of the other vans on here could tell
I met 2 of Sybhils previous owners,Ran belonged to me before Nick & Matt previous owner known too.So probably not a lot else known.
Sybhil has no hidden sins under shiny new paint,she has a patch or two on her rear corner.She was used at a college for training this was evident underneath.
Only know the previous family who owned it before us but there was some evidence of a shunt at the front end/door when back to bare metal, very little filler besides though

What Chris means is that some vans look fantastic, but under the stunning paint is a load of rubbish [V]
Sybhil on the other hand is hiding nothing horrible, what you see is all real just painted with the yard broom

If anyone wants to know about the keeper history of their commer go onto the DVLA website and print off a copy of form V888. Fill it in explaining you want previous keeper history to enable you to build up as comprehensive a history as possible for your classic vehicle. Send it off with a cheque for £5 and a few weeks later you should get copies of all the old V5s and log books. I've done this for all 4 of my cars, inc Peggy.

I'm Harvey's fourth partner, I got him from a Mr D. Head of Warrington who had most of the lower panels replaced and painted him maroon. The original custodian, Mr C.C. Patterson of Sale in Cheshire, was very fastidious and kept every bill (I've still got them) One invoice from 1972, for an engine and carb service (4000 miles £13.89p)listed instructions to the mechanics to 'Please take care not to mark upholstery - light tan' Responsibility was handed over to Mr Buckley of Birkenhead around 1980 but by 1984 Harvey moved to Warrington and the file of bills just kept growing, alternator conversion, clutch and exhaust and in 1990 the list of lower panels appears - sill corner left, sill outer left, panel rear lower, sill outer right, sill corner right and NS sill - all for the staggeringly expensive price of £111.98. Harvey came to me on 6th April 1994 and my first entry in the 'Book of Bills' was on 26th April that year for a flasher unit, £3.33. The rest is history
