How can I tell the capacity of an engine?

Yep, same block with a few more holes for engine mounts etc, but it wont go in the Commer engine bay with the Arrows pump I seem to remember because of the fan positioning.

I found out the hard way the difference between the 1500 and 1724 engines....the flat top pistons and longer con rods...:-(
