This summer we've realised that our standard PB engine is rather under powered and a bit worn out too, so I've been tempted by this on a Buy-It_Now !

I spoke to the owner first and it seems pretty genuine, it turns and is not seized and is verbally warranteed as good to go - it just needs the remaining ancillaries.
I noticed it's not got a Holbay cover which doesn't mean that much either way really, it's the mechanical bits that make the difference. So I bought on the basis of being a reconditioned standard alloy headed 1725 engine as it seemed a fair price, so anything else would be a bonus.
I'm not that bothered about genuine Holbay performance as a standard Hunter engine should give us the extra grunt we really need. What identifier should I now be looking for, so I know what versions of ancillaries to seek out for fitting ?
Would it be worth taking the head off myself to inspect internally before fitting, as new gaskets are pretty cheap ? Anything else I should consider as intial steps before attempting installation ?
Any hints / tips will be greatly appreciated

do a search and this topic has been covered already. sump needs changed as does front engine plate. well worth a look inside to double check
