Hillman Imp - 50 today

Celebrations have been taking place up at Linwood in Scotland to commemorate the opening of the factory 50 years ago today by the Duke of Edinburgh.

Convoy has since been travelling from there back down to Coventry for the weekend's events at the Coventry transport museum.

Congratulations, you little but still so important bit of fresh air from 1963. Even if you were outsold in three digit figures to one, the world just wouldn't have been the same without you.

As for the video, I loved the Scottish singing on the soundtrack. Rarely heard, at least in these parts of the northern hemisphere.. :D

I'm just back from Coventry, a great weekend nicely topped off by the arrival at 6am today of two guys who drove their Imp from Jo'burg in South Africa all the way to Coventry in a little over 30 days. Now, THAT's a road trip!

No, that was when they lost reverse gear. They took it as a good omen for the trip.....No reverse gear = no going back!:D
