hillman hunter GT

Here I go again picking the brains of the most intelligent people around. I think I have the chance of buying a 1970 hillman hunter gt with twin stromberg carbs. She`s a little bit over what I want to pay, considering that it is just something to swan around in until Lulu decides to come home. Can I ask for your opinion of this car with these carbs. The owner says it goes like s**t of a shovel.

Nice car :p I had the estate with the Perkins diesel and o/d option as my daily for about 3 years, loved it :)
If the Strombergs are working properly then it should go well :)

"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

A tricky one for me because in the 70's I had a Cortina 1600E with the GT engine and a fast road cam,
and a work colleague ran a Hunter GT.

The general concensus favoured the Cortina;)

Hunter every time. You can have one of Tim's 6 speed boxes then!

I am not a person, I am a number, 395 actually......Be seeing you!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

It may go like s**t off a shovel, just be sure it's not a pile of s**te;)

I think the traveller is just a wee bit over the top with it`s price, the cortina looks nice but I am considering
one of these

Lulu, I agree, the traveller is out of it.

You have re-kindled my affection for the Hunter GT...
...so the Super Minx is out.

But the Hunter seat covers and wheels dont look right for me
and the twin choke Weber beats the Strombergs for reliability...

...So you can have the hot Hunter GT and I'll have the executive Cortina;)

You would of course need to remove those bonnet straps and improve the ride height. That's a high cost for a hunter. They're not worth very much in the market place, unless you have a singer vogue automatic.
