Hi guys, I have the su hiff 44 on my pb , with the 421 manifold exhaust, I was wondering If anyone out there has the same setup and if so what setting have you got your air/fuel mixture jet set too? ( I know this will be different somewhat due to sea level)

And the main question being what main jet have you got installed?

Also do you have a trumpet air inlet or a filter of some sort?

Thank you in advance ☺️

Hi Alex and welcome :) I don't have the 421manifold but my engine is a tuned a bit so I can't speak from your view point but looking at others who do have your set up.................
The one usually recommended as a starting point is a Rover V8 BAK needle so start there (Commer is half the engine size of the Rover so equal to one bank of the V8) . A BBG which has been recommended by Tim (commeracer) is a bit weaker so could be an alternative.
Take a look at Minty Lamb to compare the different needles and you should be able to fine tune once you have a starting point,
Remember a HIf44 mixture adjustment is the opposite to a 'normal' carb - you turn the mixture screw in to make it richer and out to weaken it.

You should be able to easily fit a K&N cone filter as fitted to a 1275 Mini with no problem. Don't worry it's well capable of enough flow even though it's designed for a smaller engine - I've got one on mine.

Any chance of a few pics of your van, we likes pics:)

I have the Hif44 but not the same manifold. I’m not sure what needle i started with but it had flat spots and didn’t trust myself to file it so took it to a tuner who put it on the rolling road and adjusted the needle, worked a treat
