Hi folks, just joined so I thought i'd introduce myself.
I'm Ian from Gloucester, I'm generally a fan of anything mechanical from the past 100 years you name it, cars, vans, buses, traction engines, trains, airplanes etc. Anything that smells of warm oil and makes a noise and i'm there! I have a few classics that keep me busy. My current garage is:-
1971 Landrover pickup
1970 Lancia Fulvia
1972 Morris Marina Coupe (no piano jokes, I've heard them all before!)
1971 Morris Marina TC Saloon
1972 Mini Clubman Estate
My bucket list of additional vehicles I'd like to own at some point are a Morris Marina TC Coupe, Mini Clubman 1275 GT, Sunbeam Stiletto and a Commer Camper Van!
Never thought i'd get the Mrs interested in a camper van until recently when she suggested hiring a classic VW next time we go away. In my weird way of thinking thats almost as good as her saying "why don't you buy one of those" However I'm not into VW's, far too trendy and surfer dude. Nothing wrong with them as such, my mate has one, and it's a nice piece of kit, it's just the odd chin beard he has that marks him out as a VW fan! I will also always associate them with childhood memory of sitting on the central reservation barrier of the A38 on the way to holiday in cornwall watching the fire brigade extinguished a beetle thats air cooled engine had disagreed with a bit of bank holiday traffic and caught fire.
Now a Commer, is much more my style, rarer, lesser known, much cooler! Had a white and blue dinky one i was given second hand as a kid, and that always made me appreciate their looks as an adult.
Well, whats the plan? Nothing exciting i'm afraid, just a keep my eyes peeled and see what comes up, i'm in no rush. I'd prefer 4 birth and tax exempt, preferably on the road as I have enough projects, but anything considered.
Cheers
Ian
