Just want to say hello. I've just purchased a 72 Highwayman which can be seen on another thread.

I've always liked Commers but never considered one. As a long time volkswagen man I've went through splittys and bays but they are not the most practical of buses especially with a family.

So after speaking to a few friends who are into their commers I decided to go for one.

I'm very chuffed with her, decent condition. Had a mild resto and is in generally good condition. In the process of servicing and general fettling with the engine so as to have her ready for trips with the family round scotland.

She is fitted with overdrive which I'm told is quite a good thing.

I will no doubt be on here asking for advice on various things.

Welcome aboard. I think you'll find a Commer is only marginally more practical than your previous ventures tho :p

Santa, a coach-built Commer such as the Highwayman is a lot more practical than a VW. There's three times the space for a start, and a family of five can sleep and eat inside without the need for an awning.And of course, there's the exclusivity of a Commer!
 
You go from 1sq ft of space to 3sq ft of space. I get what you mean but they're still not really anything compared to a proper motorhome. Not disagreeing like, to me all that matters is how many people can sleep in it at a festival.

Welcome to commerism. I've three kids and therefore had to discount the darkside offering. Thank goodness I did who wants to have an old camper and still fit in with the crowd? Commer life is individual, I'm no expert but k don't think there are two commers the same.
