Vw's are ok but personally i think having an egine bay in the back is a massive waste of alot of space, and in such a small van space is important, in ways it may have been easier to save my pennies a bit longer and buy a nice commer that was nearly done. but i love getting my hands dirty and to be honest if you do the work yourself you get to know every little bit of your van. its a much more personal approach if you have the skills. alot of them make very good money but sometimes you have a bit of a cheapy come up. i think the reaso i got dolly so reasonable was that the ebay advert was very vague. just said tax exempt, with overdrive, runs and stops ok lol was a gamble that really payed off for me.

Thanks for the reply :)

I'm deffinately thinking about getting an old raggedy van and doing her up now, the benefits outweigh the losses imho, as you said, knowing the van inside out is something not many an owner can say unless they've built their commer from scratch!

go for it m8, it takes alot of work but its worth it, im only part way through restoring dolly, but i now know loads that i didn't before. and the more i do, the more i like what im doing lol. plus of course you have all us fantastic people to offer encouragement and good ideas lol
