Have a recovery vehicle coming for the 1961 Commer , where does he attach the tow rope to pull van on to recovery truck, any help really appreciated regards tintop

Very difficult but make sure he doesn't wrap it round a steering arm, track rod end looking thing. probably best to reach right under and wrap a thinnish strop or rope around the lower wishbone.

Thanks Panky for quick reply , I was a bit worried about it . Hopefully it all goes well , thanks again for the help regards Tintop

Need to be a bit careful with recovery trucks that the angle of the cable doesn’t catch the front valance.

No good for this time but Tim Commer used to make towing eyes, got one on mine from him and works a treat. Had to get pulled out of a boggy campsite last weekend came in very useful.

Thanks for all the reply’s , he is coming on Friday , coulld I get the recovery guy to attach the hitch to the rear axle and pulllit on to the recovery vehiicle from the back of the van, once again really appreciate the help regards tintop

Good morning Panky I have acess to both ends of the van , would it be better to connect the hitch to the rear axle from the back of the van and pull in on to the recovery vechicle that way , thanks again for ur help

I would say so, you can get the rope more central so less likely for it to move around and damage stuff.
I'm guessing the Calthorpe is coming home:)

The good guys I have used went with the rear axle option and were careful with the front valance (they claim the vehicles go on more reliably straight when winching on from rear)

These are the ones Tim makes. Pretty sure they bolt to the steering box mount that isn't used, the right hand drive position on your van.
You would need the type two for yours, I think the green one pictured that sticks out through the valence is for the Dodge Spacevan set up.

If you do ask Tim to make one for you let him know it's for a left hand drive as the hole spacing might be different.
