HFB 287G Lulu and her history

I thought it was about time that I put the history of Lulu, as much as I know that is, with costs and owners and anything else that I can throw in.
Right she started life at a motor dealer named Western Motor Caravan Company which appeared to change homes from Bournemouth to Bath, before we go any further why do southerners pronounce it Baaath?
She was bought by a Mr. Rosemond and here is a complete breakdown of payments.
Auto sleeper--------------------------------£1128.00.00
Automatic gearbox-------------------------- £ 78.00.00

For anyone too young to remember that is Pounds,Shillings and Pence

Mr Rosemond part exchanged a 1963 Mark 7 Jaguar for which he was
allowed £290.00.00.

I had to laugh when I saw that they even charged the odd 2d for the
Radio and equipment.

Most of the stuff now comes as standard with most cars.

Lulu was actually yellow when she was new.

Sorry I meant to put this on but I forgot. The year was 1969

Mr Rosemond owned Lulu until 1978 and he the sold it to Mr Davis who lived in Poole
and Mr Davis kept her for 4 years until 1982.
Watch out for the next exciting episode, will Lulu escape from Mr Davis

We don't, we pronounce it "it". We pronounce Bath "Bath". I don't see the problem. Not latitudist are you?:D

I am not a person, I am a number, 395 actually......Be seeing you!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Sorry but one of the members of the club I go to actually comes from Bath but pronounces it Baaath and of course he
gets the michael extracted, even from his best mate.
Is a latitudist similar or should that be similaaar, to a naturist. I have actually, sorry aaaactually, given you the pleasure of my company when I lived at Rickmansworth and
Princes Risborough and Harrow on the Hill,,
lucky you lot.

Knowing the locals of those areas I'm guessing they ran you out of town with flaming torches and pitchforks!
Your friend from Bath sounds like he actually comes from Wales with all that 'baaaaaing'.

Nice one and I must admit he does have short fat hairy legs

But as for running me out of town, I was welcomed with open arms as they needed a bit of
culture in all those places.

In 1982 Mr Davis sold Lulu to a Mr Allard who has a garage in Poole, He completely restored her
in 1998 and changed her colour from yellow to white and he kept her until 2002.
Mr Allard reckons he still has some pictures of her in the original colour and will try to
find them when he has time.

I wish I knew how much thse people paid for Lulu when they bought her and what work they had done
so that I could do a running cost chart. The total price new was £1462.05.08, that's including
the £25 for road tax.

there will be some nice pictures next week , now that the vans build is back up to speed. hopefully we will be in paint over the next couple of weeks.:p

In 2002 Lulu was bought by a Mr Loveys, another family from the Poole area and he had it valued
by a Cherished Car Underwriting Agency, I didn't even know such a thing existed

Not only that but she had pride of place in an Auto-Sleeper rally which was organised
by Auto Sleeper,I think I will have to see if they still have the rallies so that all
the Auto-Sleepers could make a pilgrimage, you never know there might be free cakes
and coffee.

These are 2 photographs when she was owned by Mr Loveys taken between 2002 and 2004

Mr Loveys sold the vehicle 16th May 2004 to a Mr Brown from St Neots. Mr Brown also spent time in
Ireland so Lulu was having a great time travelling, Mr Brown also had her tested in Ireland and I
have added the bill of sale and a letter from the testers to Mr Brown.

The total that I know about is now at £5262.05.08,The cost is starting to rise.

I wonder if it is possible to change the name of this thread so that it includes
the registration number and then if any of the previous owners start looking to
see what happened to her they will be directed to this site.

Why don't you start a new thread in 'Lost and Found' and provide a link to this thread. :)
