Its still here mate Im just building an extension at the mo,and restoring a transit van[:0] So the turbo conversion is on the back burner till the extensions done with my second double garage

You may never recoup the cost of an excellent restoration, but there again, the modern campervan will only go down in value as it depreciates. It's the same with any modern vehicle.

Jon, age is just a number and some people are old when they are still young, if that makes sense and Chris, my last camper was one of those V dubs and I never used it for camping although the engine was great. My last commer which I had about 25 years ago used to chug along all over the place, even up some of the hills in Wales, so I decided to get this one. Reading the advert on ebay you would have thought it was rust free with the engine all re-engineered so like an idiot I bought it and now I'm having to pay the price of a complete resto. It's £17445 so far and not finished but as Jon said, you can't take it with you so why not spend it on something your going to enjoy, and it's still gonna be the best of the bunch, said with fingers crossed.

Just make sure you have got some good breakdown cover as it wont be as reliable as your old Toyota.
I can sort you some out if you need it,and do some good discounts if your a blue badge holder

At this time I have 'get you home' breakdown with RAC but I'm not sure how much I pay. Funnily enough I had my last commer, well it was a commer/dodge, for about 7 years and never had a bit of trouble with her. How did you guess I had the blue badge is it because I talk with a limp. I have just found that the insurance that I'm with is not very good.

Insurance wise, alot of us on here are with rh specialists.

Thanks Jon I'll have a look in May when the insurance with Chaucer runs out.
2 weeks today I go into Airedale hospital for a replacement hip. I'm not allowed to drive for 6 weeks after the operation because it can make the joint come out and I can't take the dogs for long walks. I did what they told me 6 years ago when they did the other leg and I've never had any problems with it so no doubt I will be spending a lot of time on the computor.

just a quick update, i bumped into the guy the other day. he says his dad has now decided it needs a new home, and has been waiting for me to pop back up (remembers me lol) he is away in france til next month so he is calling me then. his son said he wants about 450-500 for it but its more about seeing if im really THAT interested. syas if he likes me i should get it no more than 350. just gotta hope i hear back this time. was debating trying to find a better one but to be honest by the time you factor in prices for travel and transporter its not worth it so fingers crossed on this one, still havent seen inside lol but im told its looked after, with a bit of luck i will be in the market for a welder soon
