I didn't take pictures - but need a nifty afternoon jaunt with my lovely wife having her first proper go on the six speed (and unsurprisingly) doing far better than me... looking forward to becoming a chauffeured man about town!

It needed one of these bad boys and some new pipe work!
Next job is to change the tyres........ how it past the last MOT I aint sure - every tyre has some serious cracks in the walls - treads great side walls are not great - so change them before Easter and a Abersoch trip

On the subject of tyres...mine do have small cracks too but also the front ones are very 'squashed' even with high pressure in them - the rears are fine though. It has Hilux shockers but still takes a long time to settle over speeds bumps so suspect it's the tyre walls flexing. Are most fronts like this or more likely the walls have become weakened also has anyone put more modern tyres on and does it makes significant difference to the bounce factor.

currently wearing 6.70 X 15 crossply tyres these are seriously cracked on the side walls some a lot worse than others I suppose a bit of tyre paint and they will look great BUT I not sure if I fancy doing plenty of miles full of camping gear and the family in so gonna swap them for more of the same / I like the chunky-ness of them - I am collecting a set next week

The tyres are only illegal if you can see the webbing through the cracks but sensible to change anyway
yea bugger of a job!
mine are running very old tyres I think...came off a trailer standard 15" commer ones. Probably will change em for a better ride before france as guess the walls are pretty weak. Was hoping to not do until I can get the rears re cambered as was then going to fit a smaller tyre on the front to get the ride night level again.

195/80R15c are the closest diameter to the old cross ply. A bit chunkier, but go under the arches and a much better ride.
