HELP NEEDED URGENTon the side of the road with radiator emptied

Don't use Radweld unless it's an emergency.
It's possible that the solder has cracked on the radiator stub where the hose attaches. See if you can see anything from underneath by wiggling the stub

See if you can see anything from underneath by wiggling the stub hi panky , no it seems to be nowhere near the stub , I havent been able to properly have a look as it's still being cleaned thru but from whT I did see it seems to be a hole on it's own it's well away from the stubb, I am going to continue flushing it and then have a proper look, but if it is just a random hole is there anyway to repair , thanks again

If there was a hole it would definitely leak out as the water heated and expanded. My bike rad had a pin prick hole in it and it used to leave a puddle.
 
thanks,panky any suggestions on how to tighten bottom jubilee clip on bottom hos , it's a nightmare to get at
 
I use a stubby screw driver, dive down, fumble about by feel and sacrifice my arms to the inevitable lacerations :( A small socket and ratchet might make things easier - in fact now I think on that's what I did last time I changed the hoses on Harvey - still got the lacerations though :rolleyes:
 
I undid mine from below with mini socket. Position the jubilee in place without hose to find easiest orientation for doing it back up. Glad it can stay drained for a while as I’ve still not filled mine and was thinking of will it rust quicker empty.

It can be done without but you need strong thumbs. If it's not leaking I'd leave it and just carry a spare just in case.
 
grand panky I will have to remove it the jubilee clip wont tighten back up , I just spent the last hour looking for jubilee clips i had bought only to find them in my pocket,
 
Thanks panky it's not the first time it's happened once I was looking for a screw for about an hour only to discover it was in my mouth I,m gonna leave the old one on a just push old jubilee clip out of the way any trying put a new one on , the problem is when u open a clip it's hard to get it started again , I'll get there , it's a harder job than anticipated, but hopefully it's all worth while.
 
hi panky I put 4litre in and it's full, I think it's because i didnt use the drain tap , were the bottom hose connects to on radiator comes out and points up about 3 to 4 inches so i think there possible was a couple of litres of water left in the bottom of rad before I filled it , any thoughts

Dropping the bottom hose will get rid oy 99% of what's in there -there's probably an air lock somewhere, probably the heater. Start it up with the rad cap off and let it run for a while (without getting too hot) and you should see the level drop a bit. When you top it up again keep the level about and inch from the top of the rad. Then put the cap, run up to temperature and check for leaks.
