help me help me help me

we were going to take charlie to dawlish because i havnt been there then carry on to cornwall somewhere cos i love cornwall and just stop where ever we fancied, was going to be great:( but just not this year:(

Is there still a lot to do for MOT. Sleep on it and maybe delay holiday for a couple of days to get Charlie sorted and then continue with original plans but cut short the tour. It is amazing what a good nights sleep can do after a hard frustrating day, just think of the Devon sunset you can drive off into [8D]

its taken me the evenings of three days to fit a top link pin and i wasnt sleeping through worrying that he wouldnt be ready for sam, this was her wedding present and our honeymoon as such after all, am going to put another hard wkend in and see where we stand on monday morning, just a bit gutted really:(

sorry, my manners have slipped recently, from sam and i can i say a big thankyou to everyone for their kind words of support, advice, and the commer ownership fun that you have given us with this link and forum when you dont even know us, i hope the end of summer meet can go some way to show we do appreciate your help, must sleep[|)][|)][|)]

Commers are a bit like marriage - things don't always go smoothly but what you get back for the time you put in can give huge rewards;)

Just think - you could have been spending that last few days changing the clutch on a Mondeo (manual recommends allowing 72 hours - not easy access on that one) or working your guts out to pay for a new £800 black box on your modern wheels. Keep the faith - it will all be part of the happy honeymoon memories and what you're doing is really original and to be remembered for life.[:X]

Good luck to you both:)

hello everypeeps well we are down to three steps forward and one back so its improving:D we now have working; all lights, all indicators and hazards, windscreen wipers, and later today washers, the step backwards was the horn, i have rewired it at the wheel and the horn but most of the gubbins was missing out of the horn push so i have wired what i think should be there and put a spring in but when you turn the steeering the horn goes off could anyone be so kind as to take off their horn push and take a picture of the whole thing and wheel and put it here so i can see how they were originaly PLEEASE PRETTY PLEEEEASE:D:D

There is no wiring inside, just the spring loaded contact [?]

I had this problem with mine - had to change indicator switch - indicator stalk on mine has metal casing which sits devilishly close to contact for horn underneath steering wheel and if it isn't sitting quiet straight it touches when you turn the wheel (mine started doing it when we were driving through town-dreaded having to turn right).

It was a bit like that game where you have to guide a loop over a twisted wire to put casing back on - if it touches it makes the horn beep which makes you jump which makes you lose where you were lining it up to. Proved to be a noisy process and my nerves may not stand taking it apart again to take a photo[xx(] will if you are totally stuck of course:)

Contact that comes up through steering wheel in Martins photo had a plastic sleeve to insulate it from outer part of steering wheel which had partially shattered on mine (not quite the same profile as a bic biro unfortunately) but there was enough left to stop it touching outer rim.

thats great thanks we dont have the rod that comes up through the wheel so i put a piece of wire there and the spring i used was off a brake shoe retainer and not dissimilar to yours but now i see the problem, my nuts been chiselled at some point and the burrs are catching the spring so i think if i file these off i should be fine, nice one martin. do you wear a cape and your pants on the outside cos your my superhero yet again

ah right well that adds another angle to it i shall have to check that as well thanks studio, why is it the simplest things cause you the most grief, i can rebuild the under floor of a car in no time but a horn has me beat!!! nothing like playing with your horn all wkend eh he he[}:)]

sure beats having your nuts chiselled:I

hopefully just involves twisting the casing slightly and making sure contact that comes through steering wheel is insulated where it passes through. good luck beep. hope beeep it all beeeeeeep goes beep quietly beeeeeeeeeep

I came out of it looking like herbert lom in the pink panther movies with nervous twitching eyelids and whimpering gently[xx(]

Mine was the same, the switch had worn out on the contacts and the horn push needed some slight adjustments...its kind embarassing going round roundabouts with yer horn honking!!..lol..[}:)]

The original item is a piece of brass at either end, connected by a soldered wire, separated by a spring and enclosed on a plastic tube-Phew :) I have a spare, but the wire has broken[V]

my horn works now by pressing down a switch on the dash. would presume the same problem happened at one stage to skyes horn.:D:D

hello everyone me in trouble again! i am trying to do the nsf kingpin, i have the front suspension apart but the pin does not want to come out, please what is the correct way of extracting it????[xx(]

I've not had the pleasure of this job myself but the book says the kingpin should be drawn out from the bottom. There is a threaded hole to fit a 3/8 UNF stud at the base of the pin so stud in the hole. socket over the stud, big washer and nut over the socket and jack away. Don't forget to take the cotter pin out first. Hope I'm not going over old ground and this helps a bit.
