HELP! Clutch master cylinder

Right boys and girls, stand by your beds! I need some more help please!:p

The master clutch cylinder has been leaking, so decided to add this to the list of jobs and have ordered a new seal kit from Speedy's. The only problem is...I can't get the existing one off!! As the manual says I have removed the clevis pin from the rod that bolts on to the pedal and the 2 bolts which holt the cylinder to the mounting bracket, but this will not allow me to remove the cylinder?? HELP? The spring and metal cap that is around the piston will not allow me to move cylinder.[xx(]

Please tell me what to do someone! - please!:p:p

not quite sure what the problem is, if you can,t get the cylinder off the van after removing the pin/2 bolts and pipe then its in need of a tap with a hammer to "unstick" it.

ifits off the van then there is a circlip under the rubber boot that needs removing to get the rod/seals out :)

Thanks CR, the circlip under the rubber boot sounds possible. Have given up for the night...will have another go tomorrow.

It definitely won't come off though...need to remove that large spring and cap top..some how?? really annoying me!
 
Is it still on the van? daft question but have you disconnected the hydraulic pipe ( I said it was daft but I can't think of anything else that would hold it in position:I)

Yeah that is disconnected...

I know, but... with the spring and metal cap still on, it will not fit through the housing bracket hole. Think CR is right, it could be a circlip or 40 years of grease/underseal holding the metal cap tight on the spring. Will have another go tomorrow night.

Yes it was well stuck with oil and grease...anyway, got it undone. Stripped it down and replaced the seals. It is all back on now, and thanks to Martin M who supplied me with a new hydraulic hose, just needs refilling with DOT4 and bled.

MOT next week sometime, pending 1 or 2 other jobs...not MOT dependant but while you have all the wheels off...? Like changing the seals to the rear brake cylinders, again all done but yet to be filled and bled.

Also thanks to BMM, i have made up some bunk brackets, and some steel poles etc. look great and could take about 7-8 stone I reckon.

Thanks to all....not out of the woods yet but feel like progress has been made. Be in touch if anything else crops up!
