Help! Clutch Hose Wanted!

Hello! Our Highwayman (1974) has been sitting on the drive for the past couple of months and we recently decided to fire her up and check for issues... Everything worked with no problems, apart from the (dreaded) clutch.

Issue;

The clutch pedal wouldn't move (seized). It had about 1cm of play.

I ran some searches and decided to do the usual (run for an hour and then let cool down). After the engine had cooled down, I attempted to start her back up with the clutch depressed. However, the clutch went to the floor. After looking underneath, the clutch cable looks to have ruptured and is now spewing out clutch fluid.

I've sent an email to all the usual spares people, looking for a hydraulic clutch cable but thought I'd post a little something on here, just in case anyone has one.

Soooooo...... Anyone have one?

If they haven't got one just run the whole length in copper tube. Your local motorfactors will run you one up for a few quid. Take the old one with you and they can match it for length.

THAT could work a charm :)

However, we're on the Isle of Man and struggle to find someone to make a bolt, nevermind a hydraulic hose!;)

So... I finally got the cable off, which turned out to be a homemade cable (made with red polly). The plastic had ruptured.

No one had an original piece for sale, but Ian at Classic Car Spares has agreed to try and make one for us. After getting under the van, it was clear that the slave cylinder had locked up. A couple of knocks with a rubber mallet and she was loose. Just waiting for the cable now and we'll be away! :)

Yep - they are all the same. But if you can't get an original pipe you could use copper, maybe incorporate a rubber flexy section (as on brake pipes to wheels) to account for engine movement.

Done and dusted - just spent the morning fitting the new cable (provided by Ian at Classic Car Spares) and bleeding the system etc... We're now up and running! :)

Thumbs up to Ian and thanks for everyone's suggestions. We're off for a run into the village to impress the locals!
