Hello All.

Afternoon all, i've just signed up and thought it only polite to say hello . I've been hankering after a commer for a few years now and have finally made the jump from the darkside (vw splitscreens) I currently have two early vw panels and have just acquired an 82 dodge panel (I know its not commer but I assume they are viewed in a similar light ?) which some of you have probably seen for sale a few times on ebay (Ex BT) Both of my vans are original, tatty and original sign writing so this one is going to be the same. I'm just in the process of making a bit of space in the workshop then I will be getting the original logos made up and MOTed as soon as possible. I will just drive it as is for a while and see what happens (falls off).

In the meantime does anyone know where I can source a fuel tank from ? I have fitted one in the back that I had lying about but it would be good to be able to get an original one.

Hi Mart and welcome to the Madhouse:D hopefully you will keep the van longer than the last guy. I wouldn't bother witb an old tank tbey have a lining that breaks down and blocks everything, best to invest in a nice new ally one from commeracer. PM him for details. If you do go for an old one then Martin Maltas may have one, he's on here too.

The last fella was / is a mate of mine , he has a habit of buying things and selling a week later ;) Thanks for the info I will look into the option of a new tank then.

Welcome Mart. We won't hold it against you if you have vans from the dark side as well. We have a VW t25, and very good it is too.

Welcome to the madhouse Dodge/Commer all the same. Run it the way it is. We were at Moffat last week with my pickup. Had been off the road for years. MOTD it and off we went. Great fun. Off Tatton next.:):):):)image.jpeg

How do mate, I think you've made an excellent purchase, these bad boys are proper scarce and that obviously makes them the choice of the non dedicated follower of fashion

Hi just joined up my-self have a 78 Dodge spacevan with a Buccaneer conversion. Owned it for about 25 years now and is starting to get a bit tired. It had been sitting in the shed for about 10 years because the wifes horses scraped the front windshield now thanks to the internet I have taken in to bring her back to full health. I am planning a full strip down and respray even after 25 years I still can't stand that yellow. So glad to meet a fellow Dodge badger.

Hi and welcome to the Madhouse:cool: Another victim;)
We've owned our Auto-Sleeper for 25 years too and as with yourself it spent a long time waiting for attention, but now it's back to full health and truly loved:) Would love to see some pics of how it was and what it's like now, and of course some of the progress you make as you continue the resto.

Not a problem have stripped out everything from the back and folding roof just about to come away every other screw or nut either breaks off or refuses to move put I don't give up. Basic van sound good floor etc just door bottoms rain channel and usual places. Its going to be a long one

Good luck with it, if you need panels Martin Maltas is your man, he makes most of them:)
