Heater airbox

Hi Commerjules,
I have almost completed the resto' on the airbox,i just need to know how the centre rod works on the flap as this part was the most rotten. I have made a new flap as the original with all the rods and hinge plates renewed, but can't find any pictures of the centre rod/spring mech etc.I did consider some other unit but that would mean working out how to fix it so i decided to have a go at repairing the old one.The actual heater/fan and flap assembly all works a treat so i'm reluctant to buy a complete unit.
Any help or idea's would be most welcome.

Hi Trev,I think we might have a heater out of one of the vans could take some pic's but may take a day or two....The other thing is I have been driving ran all winter [:0] the heater works only when the wind is in the right direction ;)my riley has been fitted with a mini heater loads better :)hope this helps,will try & grab the heater & get pic's tommorrow [8D]

Hi Trev,

Interesting to hear of your work on your airbox, yet to get full look at mine out but think it's too far gone as it's held together with cable ties and there seems more daylight than metal ! I will photograph this weekend and upload if it's there's enough left for it to be of use to you.

I've taken the NOS heater unit from Malcolm, just in case when I take a closer look at my airbox that the rot there has spread even further. If not, I will have a spare heater unit available - if anybody's interested please let me know

Sorry Trev, I have looked high & low & can't find it :II know it is there cos I put it there [:eek:)]but 10 litres of engines are in the way [:eek:)]:I[:0]I will get Tim to have a look for it....I know it is there [:(!]

Hi Chaps just thought i would throw this one in I took mine off in 1993 as i could see the hose was emptying out on the front skirt and so rust was forming, I replaced it with a washing machine hose that comes down and accross the bumper irons behind the skirt/front panel, so I cant squeeze anymore (but I do keep one handy about the house just in case I get the urge!!!!!!!!!!!
