Heat Shield on Engine Cover

What material is the heat shield board on the underside of engine over, looks like it could asbestos? what would you replace it with? thanks again.

Never seen a heat shield on one tbh. I’ve two engine lids and both are just steel

Will have to upload photo, it's a white fibre board bolted to the underside of the lid, look like horse hair matting above that.

I don't think it's asbestos but fibre board as you suggest. Some people have replaced it with hot water tank jacket material.

I'm learning everything!!! mostly that if you see 1/4 light rubbers anywhere, buy them straight away and not lose them like I did on ebay, feel like a melon!!
