Spare a Commer Guv?
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

I commute from pembrokeshire to London every week! If you see a black Jag at warp speed tooting and flashing, its not just another irate motorist![8D]

Rupert horten does'nt work!!

yep, we're off tomoz... should hit the Tamar bridge around 8.30... so keep your eyes open if you're on the A38/M5 and Bristol / S.Wales area during the morning!!

Commer, Autosleeper, Powder blue and white, with trailer and 3 bikes!!

Got to Brecon ok... but then broke down in the campsite!! Yes in the site. We had just driven 200 miles flawlessly, checked in at reception, and then she wouldn't start???? No spark?? Called AA, we replaced the coil but still nothing?? Looks like the distributor... anyone have any ideas
or live nearby?? And has one? If not AA will have to take us home on Tuesday... never mind, least we got here!!
Thanks

Ray, check that the earth wire from the coil to the solenoid is connected, we missed this when our coil went and the van wouldn't start.

How rubbish are the AA?? It took 10.5 hours from my first call this morning to getting us home tonight!?!? only 190 miles. Anyway, more importantly, Wilma seems to fire now and again and there is (some) fuel to the carb.. but she won't go? Any ideas before I get started??
I'm thinking the fuel pump or carb are partially blocked?
Cheers RaY

Glad you are home safe 1st of all Ray:)

If nothing seems obvious check the seal on the fuel pump...thats what caused Tigger to break down...it was sucking more air than fuel, causing him to fire occassionly .........if you pour some fuel straight into carb will it fire/run a while? also if you suspect a carb blockage, try the palm of the hand over the top of the carb trick to pull through a blockage....and not forgetting the tip of the moment, blowing the jets through with a bicycle pump fitted with a football adaptor:)

Bit obvious but check the battery has a really good earth...nice and tight but also sited nice and clean....disconnect from body and get the wire brush out:)..

Hay Razor, I think you have been stalking me!
first time I saw you and your van was Sunday the 25th of september, you (or at least i think it was you) were driving out the saltash tunnel (Cornwall side). I waved from the drivers seat of my blue Triumph 2500PI. the second thim was on the back of the AA lorry on the A38 just by Ashburton.
small world!

Hey Dan.. yeah, I saw your Triumph and waved too. Remember it well. I was on a recovery truck yesterday at about 5.30pm past Ashburton coming home. Where are you based then?

Cool, will I live south of Exeter about 15miles down the road in a place called Kingsteignton. So not a million miles away. I have 2 auto-sleepers, one that i am half way through restoring. I want it on the road for next summer :D.
Reall made my day seeing you and your van!

Were u at a Commer meet in Bude about 4 years ago? Your van looks familiar..

You must be the nearest other van to us?? - that I know of..

Will come up and see you one day if you like? Would love to see your vans in the flesh.

Yeah it was me at that one, it was the very last time I drove my van! if you can remember my van, you will realise why it was the last outing I had, As all the major components were held together with gaffer tape. :D Been way to long sins I had one on the road :(

And you would be more than welcome to come have a nose around and if you ever need another brain to pic please feel free :D
