Headlight conversion

Hi All.

I expect to get lambasted by the traditionalists, but here goes:

I'd like to fit halogen headlamp conversions to my PB Coaster. I was wondering if anyone has done this before and could give me any advice/warnings? I'd also be really interested to know if anyone can recomend a conversion kit/supplier?

Cheers! :D

Welcome to the Mahouse Mr Count:D
Don't worry about a trifling mod like new headlamps - that's just sensible - you should see what the rest of us get up to:I

eh up...

our van (jessica) now has halogen headlamps and they are very nice indeed. definetly recomended.

There are 2 types of lucas 7(?)" headlights - ones with round bulb connectors (old bulb/reflector lights) and one with three prong connectors (sealed beams). I suggest you pop one of you headlights out and find out which ones you have, then get the apropriate kit. Ours was from ebay and it was for a mini I think (three pronged/sealed beam ones) my minor originally had the round bulb connectors, but I got a new bit of wiring to convert them to sealed beam units.

hope this helps

Rupert

p.s. I don't have relays [:0] saying that I don't have particuarly high power lights.

we don,t have a relay on the Riley either, despite the 100w bulbs, just heavy wiring :)
but it is better to run through a relay if possible ;)

I have converted to Halogens.
I converted to halogens as I couldnt get on with not seeing anything at night with the standard 55w sealed beams.
There is a 100w H4 halogen bulb behind that tripod, so modern performance with classic looks. Once you have the bulb holders you could go the whole hog and fit 130w High Intensity Discharge H4 bulbs which I was thinking of doing but not sure if I like the "blue" appearance these give from a distance.

Hey guys,

Wow! A wealth of responses.
In answer to BigMonkeyMan we've got the three pronged sealed types.

I was wondering about a relay - thought I'd probably put one in for the safety aspect.

Commerjules - thanks for the link!

I reccon I better get some pics up asap. Thanks again for such a quick response.
