Hand brake cable seized

Hello guys and gurus. My Dodge has had its handbrake disconnected via the cable. Said cable is now seized. I see from the maintenance schedule this should be periodically lubricated.
Has anyone suffered from this? If so is it worth pumping some oil down it and waiting a few days, or should I just buy a replacement?
Thanks in advance.

You could try, there is a grease nipple on the main cable that you could try forcing some lubricant into. My van was laid up for years and the cable seized, left it in a bucket of oil an parafin for a month with no joy:( So you might end up buying new and yes, Martin M is the man to see. Dont throw you old one away though as he needs to salvage the triangular casting to get others cable made.
