Here is a good lesson in aerodynamic drag. pretty self explanitory really

and another that shows how its not the front trying to push through the air thats important but keeping a boundary layer of air in contact to reduce the turbulent wake behind, that causes a vacuum that try,s to pull you back

Had a really good drive out in the van at the weekend. It was really windy. Going in to the wind was very hard work (only 55mph really) but we flew home I guess it is to do with this. Does it balance out? i.e. you use the same amount of petrol going into the wind as you save coming back?
