These were already a classic even in their day, nice one Chris !
I've always wondered about the 205 whether there was any even minor 'carry over' from any Rootes designs ...
As it's always looked to me like a much less squared off version of the Talbot Samba ! But there again I'm not even sure whether there was any Rootes input into car that either.
Although wasn't the Talbot Sunbeam essentially a belatedly hatchback(ish) based on the Hillman Avenger running gear ?
Done over 100 miles in it so far and i swear there is more fuel in it now than when i started, i shall drill a hole in the tank so it fits in around here
"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"
Don't know much about them, had friends years ago who owned them.
It is a Style deisel 1769 45-60 mpg [8D] can find lots of info on the gtis etc but not the Style.Didn't Mr Fordy have one ? get to drive it tonight to work, had a sit in it this morning but eyes rolling so just reversed it out of the drive & back in familiarised my self with indicators & lights.
I had one a couple of years ago to teach my son to drive - base model with 1 litre engine and no frills. I enjoyed it so much I used to drive it everywhere. Eventually sold it to a girl at work as her first car. She loves it and it is still going strong with no rust at 20 years old. My other son is now learning and I've got a 9 year old 106. It's the newest car in our family. [^]
What model have you got? Is it one with GTI style seats? If so, I have a complete foam insert for the seat as the bolsters tend to collapse with age. You would be welcome to it if it is of any use to you.

The original was the Chrysler Sunbeam which was indeed based on a shortened Avenger floorpan. This became the Talbot Sunbeam when Chrysler sold its European business to the French.
Some say that the Pug 1360 engine owes its basic design to the Coventry Climax derived Imp engine although I'm not convinced.
Cracking little cars though, shame they're front wheel drive.......
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?
I've got a Highwayman!!!
